Big Bear In Autumn

Autumn in Big Bear is so beautiful. It's my absolute favorite time of the year. The colors of the season are warm and brilliant. The fall colors can be seen through out the San Bernardino Mountains. It's a lot cheaper to make a trip up the hill then travel all the way over to the east coast and see the changing of the leaves.

The weather turns to cooler temps., fireplaces become a focus, and the mood all around is just warm and cozy. This time of year is great for baking, pies, cakes, and bread!

Even though the summer crowds have waned, Big Bear still offers visitors many things to do. There's always events scheduled throughout the year and the fall is no exception.

Big Bear has its own farmers market that still happens in October. Farmers from around the local area bring their finest to offer to the general public. Fresh fruit and vegetables abound as well as an unique gifts. You will find an eclectic array of goods that will temp your wallet. The farmers market is open to the general public on Tuesdays only.

We have the Big Bear Trout Fest that just took place October 1 & 2. This event is an annual event that anglers compete for $130,000 in cash & prizes!

Another event that is relatively new but gaining in popularity is the Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Fest. This is it's third year showcasing horror and sci-fi film screenings. Special guest appearances and more to entice you to attend. This event is held at the Performing Arts Center in the Boulder Bay area of Big Bear Lake.

Halloween in the Village is Octobers big culmination! The village is blocked off to vehicular traffic so that children and families have a safe place to trick-or-treat! All the retailers in the village hand out candy and treats starting at 4:30 PM thru 8:00 PM. When Halloween has fallen on a weekend this event has been known to attract upwards of 5000 treaters.
