Big Horn Mountain Men Of Big Bear Lake - Try Your Hand at Black Powder Shooting

Come one and all to the “Bighorn Mountain Men Monthly Shoot”, there is an event the first Sunday of every month. Beginning at 9AM.

The organization is dedicated to promoting interest and understanding in the art of buckskinning, and the legal and safe use of muzzle loading firearms.

They hold a black powder shoot at a local range beginning at 9AM the first Sunday of each month. The organization also sponsors a Rendezvous each year in the San Bernardino National Forest near Big Bear, California.

The BHMM members will gladly teach prospective members interested in learning about mountain men and their skills - shooting, camping, archery, and cooking. We have the muzzleloaders & supplies so you can try your hand before investing in any equipment.

The Rendezvous will allow attendees to see how they lived, dressed, traded and survived in the 1700’s to early 1800’s in the American West.

With flint fires, Dutch oven cooking, leatherwork, basket making, tomahawk throwing, knife throwing and target shooting. See how these mountain men lived in tepees and tents.

You can also purchase primitive clothing from the Trade Good’s. There will be refreshments available at Trader’s Row.

For more information on this organization or the Rendezvous event call (951) 780-9331 or (951) 785-0727 or visit to there website.
