Here in Big Bear we have more snow than almost anywhere else right now!

Can you believe it?! Bear Mountain and Snow Summit have more snow than almost anywhere else right now with nearly 438 skiable acres and more than 55 full-width runs.

They had a great night of snowmaking to give us mostly machine groomed packed powder runs today! More snowmaking is expected tonight and will continue as long as conditions allow.

Families and beginners can enjoy the “Fun Zone” a great place to learn, filled with beginner terrain features and jibbing structures at the Snow Summit Ski Resort. Over at Bear Mountain they have meandering trails with 550 accessible undeveloped acres of natural terrain, and 3…that right 3 halfpipes available! You can start off on the beginner pipe, hop on the regular halfpipe, and then try the Superpipe for those real thrill seekers!

For the price of just one lift ticket, you can enjoy access to two full-service mountain resorts, with a free shuttle between them.

Come enojoy the beautiful scenery, the great food and stay with us at one of our luxurious cabin afterward. Cant wait to see you here. Check out our Special Deals here to see what money saving opportunities we have in store.

Snow is falling!

Its been awhile, but....the SNOW is falling as we speak! I know the sun is shining but in our partly cloudy blue sky I do see flakes...tiny white flakes. They are getting bigger all the time and multiplying by the second! I do believe its time for me to dance in the falling snow...since there's not enough yet to make a snowball!

The aging process has you firmly in its grasp if you never get the urge to throw a snowball. ~Doug Larson

Something for the Kids

Volcom’s 2012 Peanut Butter and Rail Jam is this Sunday January 12th at Bear Mountain

The Peanut Butter and Rail Jam is Volcom’s amateur snowboard contest series. The goal of the series is to give something back to the kids. Deviating from the established way snowboard contests are run, Volcom put thier heads together and came up with a fresh format. Instead of having three rails in a row, they put them side by side to create a rail zone. This boosts the energy level and fun nature of the contest because everyone is together, riding, hiking, and watching in a big group. There are four divisions; 15 & under, 16 & over, Girls and Open (pro-am). The contest runs in a jam format so there are no scheduled runs. You can hit each of the rails as many times as you want during your 20 minute heat. The judges only care about tricks you pull, so you don’t need to worry about falling. The event is absolutely free, on a first come first serve basis, and boasts tons of free prizes and PB&J sandwiches! Also, Everyone who enters walks away with a t-shirt and stickers!! See you on the hill!

Big Bear poems for you to enjoy!

If I were a Big Bear
If I were a bear,

And a big bear too,

I shouldn’t care

If it froze or snew;

I shouldn’t much mind

If it snowed or friz?

I’d be all fur-lined

With a coat like his!

For I’d have fur boots
    and a brown fur wrap,

And brown fur knickers
    and a big fur cap.

I’d have a fur muffle-ruff
    to cover my jaws,

And brown fur mittens
    on my big brown paws.

With a big brown furry-down
    up to my head,

I’d sleep all the winter
    in a big fur bed.

Big Bears lazy days
Now it's time for sleep,
Big bears go in their caves.
Keeping warm and cozy,
Time for lazy days.
When the snow is gone,
And the sun comes out to play,

Big bears will wake up from their sleep,
And then go on their way.

Mountain looking great

Here is a great photo of our lovely Bear Mountain Ski Resort looking up from Moonridge.

This was taken about two blocks from my house after a snowy day. Our season sometimes lasts until late April if the weather is right. My favorate time to ski is in March and late February due to the lack of crowded slopes. The conditions are still great and less people allows a little more freedom to enjoy the runs.
Just a friendly tip from a local...
