Miss Clemintine Pageant set for this weekend

The annual Miss Clementine pageant is set for May 26th at the Big Bear Convention Center during the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The Miss Clementine Pageant and Old West Fashion Show features contestants dressed in all types of apparel from the late 1800s to 1910. This year, the Old Miners Association is hosting a companion category for young men, “Lucky Baldwin.” The young gentleman honors with the title wins the same prizes as Miss Clementine.
The Miss Clementine winner earns a number of prizes along with acting lessons. New this year, courtesy of the Two Valley Players, producers of the Big Bear Summer Theater Festival, Miss Clementine will be treated to a package designed to support the successful contestant in her possible aspirations of becoming a part of the world of entertainment. Miss Clementine will be given a package that includes six, one-on-one, videotaped acting lessons, a photographic portfolio and assistance in generating a professional theater resume. She also receives a DVD of the contest, and of her performing an audition scene directed by the Big Bear Summer Theater Festival’s artistic director.
The pageant will be followed by a performance of the melodrama “The Saga of Sagebrush Sal” performed by the Big Bear Summer Theater resident company and directed by John Phane. Old Miners President Dayan Anderson will portray the title character and Richard Milliner, first vice president, will put his trademark style on Jake the Snake. John Phane, artistic director of the Big Bear Summer Theater Festival, will direct and play the narrator.
Additionally, following their coronation, the 2012 Miss Clementine and Lucky Baldwin categories will together announce the winner of the Old Miners Association Grand Marshal Showdown. The 2012 Miss Clementine and Lucky Baldwin couple will be invited to ride on the Miss Clementine Pageant float in the 2012 Big Bear Heritage Parade.
The Parade will begin at the intersection of Big Bear and Summit boulevards at 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon of Saturday, July 21.
Come join us for some fun festivities and high flyn' rootin' tootin' good ol' time! Cant wait to see you there!
