Is it Ice Cream?

Making ice-cream and thinking back to simpler times, I just remembered what we did as kids to make cup cakes "appear" like one of our favorite all time treats - ice-cream.

These were so fun to make and even more fun to eat. This is one easy thing to do with kids. They're an awesome treat to take to school bake sales, parties, or just to enjoy to make your day a little more whimsical.

I searched the internet and found these how to clips. I have included them here.

My personal suggestion is that you create your own version of your favorite flavor of ice cream. Take a regular cake batter and kick it up a notch to mimic ice-cream flavors of Rocky Road, Pistachio, Butter Pecan or whatever traditional ice cream flavor you enjoy - all it takes is a little creativity. As they say, think OUTSIDE the box. (pun intended)

Don't forget, if you are making these while you are at the cabin, look further into the blog for baking instructions at high altitude or just read the instructions on the cake mix box.

This rendition is baking the cake mix inside the cone.
This version is making small and large cupcakes ahead of time and combining the cakes and candy in the cone and finishing it off with frosting.
If you choose to do this method, I would suggest using easy to eat candy like m&m's, gummy bears, or any other soft candy - NOT gum balls!
Here's another option using the method of "cake pops"

Let us know if any of these suggestions have helped you. We'd love to hear from you.
