An Old Miner's Weekend!

Big Bear Lake's "Old Miner's Days" are in full swing!
You can visit their site on Facebook at: Old Miner's Association, Big Bear California for more information, as well as their main web page at

Some festivities and attractions - just to mention a few ... being held this weekend will be:  the Calcutta Dinner on Friday night (July 12th) -  7:30 p.m. at Nottingham's on the corner of Pine Knot and Big Bear Blvd.  Also, the semi-finals for the Old Miner's Karaoke contest is being held at B's Boathouse Bar and Lounge on Alden Road - starting at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday (July 13th) will host the annual  Big Bear Old Miners Association International Chili Society Sanctioned Chili Cookoff at the Bartlett (Visitor's Center) parking lot starting at 10 a.m.  It's FREE admission and you can buy a "tasting kit" for $5.00 with which you can sample the various chili recipes and vote for your favorite!  Along with the cookoff, there will be additional activities for the whole family, one of  which - at the far end of the Bartlett parking lot near Murray's Saloon & Eatery - will be the "outhouse races", taking place at noon, with the "Calcutta lunch and auction" happening just before the races.

The Bluegrass music festival will also be taking place this  weekend at various venues throughout the Village,  "The Cave" and several local restaurants.

So pack up the family and come on up and enjoy a real Old Miner's mountain weekend!!  And .... while you're up here, don't forget to stop by our office (40016 Big Bear Blvd.) and experience one of our "Mining Adventures" and take home a souvenir of a different kind, like maybe a raw emerald, ruby, arrowhead, crystal point  or geode  !!
