A Little Information on the History of Labor Day

The upcoming Labor Day holiday may mean the "unofficial" end of the Summer season, a great reason to barbeque or party, your favorite retail store's annual sale, or maybe your big opportunity to buy that new car you've been drooling over all year on sale ... but the main roots of this holiday came about in 1882 after Peter J. McGuire, an American labor leader witnessed the Canadian tradition of celebrating their labor workers at the annual "Labour Festival".

Oregon was the first state to make it an official holiday in 1887 and it was proclaimed a Federal holiday by president Grover Cleveland in 1894.  The "official proposal" plan of action for the holiday included parades, speeches and celebrations for the labor worker and their families ... much the same as it is celebrated today!

So all you "labor force" workers, take the extended weekend to celebrate your contributions to our national economy!  Why not take advantage of the time off to come up and explore our beautiful mountain paradise?  Check out our Labor Day specials of stay 2 nights get the third free or a percentage off the base rate if you choose to stay only 2 nights!
